| Library of Winds - Workroom |
[May. 22nd, 2006|06:14 pm] |
The Library of Winds now has a workroom for members to post questions, suggestions, introduce characters, OOC (out of character), OT (off topic), icon instruction and author/mun discussions. Think of it as our 'fen' community. You can find it at low_workroom. It can also be accessed from the Links List on the Library, Catalogue and Librarian journal pages.
Members of the Library will need to join this new community to post should they want to. Depending on how the community develops, I may be shifting administration notices off the Library journal and into the Workroom. Also this will be the place to ask the Librarian anything you would like to know.
I would like to thank everyone for their enthusiasm and continuing contributions to the Library. It has grown wonderfully over the last few months and it is great to see all the new members and entries. |

| OOC - The Winds are changing |
[Jan. 25th, 2006|07:54 pm] |
Finding a few characters in need of a prompt community, the purpose of the Library of the Four Winds ( libraryofwinds) has been altered.
The Library is now a challenge community for both role playing and fiction writing purposes. Once a week a single word prompt will be posted and characters and fic writers are encouraged to write something in relation to that one word.
It is a place to look for ideas when you're stuck for inspiration and a home for characters that don't or can't fit into other communities. The rules are as minimal as possible. All that is required is...
- All challenge replies to be posted to the community - All replies must be a minimum of 100 words or more and can be in the form of role playing, fan fiction, original fiction or poetry. - There are no due dates or posting requirements, however members are encouraged to post at least once a month - Multiple versions of the same character in a role playing sense are allowed. Role playing is allowed.
Any queries, feel free to post here. |

| Trust |

Interesting topic that. Who does a ghost trust?
Obviously there was a point I trusted that I would survive and didn't. Let's just say that you shouldn't trust the civility of the average patron.
But I have not let this small set back…well, set me back. I still trust in many things and various persons.
I trust the sun will continue to rise. This would be a good thing since so much is currently riding on that trust.
I trust that Jimmy will be late for work, take extended lunch breaks, and, in general, make a nuisance of himself. He left the door to space open again yesterday. I swear we lost a shelf of books, three kettlekin and a whole flock of transients. Kaktor threw a fit again since four of his sensor devices in the room blew out. Threats don't seem to have an effect on the boy.
I trust Opius. That is a foregone conclusion. Never a more devoted administrator have I come across. If the Library was burning down, I swear he'd fling himself in front of the collection in an attempt to save it…despite his grumblings to the negative.
I trust my brother and sisters. Lily can be a bit of a character, and you certainly don't want to anger her, but I would trust her with my life…actually that is a redundant statement, since I don't have one, but I hope you get my meaning. Crys and Kale though twins by birth are so different from each other it's a wonder they were able to share a womb together, but I trust them. I do, however, worry about Kale, his current activities defy explanation.
And I trust the wind.
She carries me where I need to go. Buoys me, supports me, greets me each morning, and whispers in my ear when I'm feeling down. She has my trust and is my trust.
Of course, can I trust that my trust will never be broken?

| | The sigh of the wind | ] | When she walked through the doors she was surprised at her own reaction. She had been on holiday for only a week and it seemd like forever. The oak doors still moved as if they were lighter than air, but the absense of Archibald was a little alarming. She'd have to chase him down. Couldn't have a foyer without its attendant.
The crystal leadlight doors welcomed her, their inscription almost waving at her. 'Leave not your will behind' A warning that should not be lightly ignored. The Library had many hidden places, some of which were not so nice. They opened and the breeze caught he and her dress. She held out a hand and a finger of wind wrapped around it in greeting. She smiled.
Walking down the steps she made her way over to the main desk, her skirts brushing against leaves drawn into the room by the ever present wind. There was a pile of books to be shelved, probably left by Jimmy. That boy was not worth the effort sometimes.
There was a flutter of wings and Opius the Owl landed on the desk. "Opey? It's good to see you. How are the children?"
Opey eyed her. "You're looking rather transparent today. I must remember not to flap my wings to hard, you might blow away."
"Hardly likely. Any messages?"
"Hmph. Kaktor still won't stop grumbling. I have no idea what got stuck in his craw during that last download from Infinity, but he's been chewing on it for months. I advise keeping away from him. Jimmy is on lunch break - as of two days ago. Three catalogue draws are missing - I suspect the mumbles are at it again. And I think there is a new nest of birdles in the belfry."
"Nothing new then?"
"Nope."
"We ready for business?"
"As ready as we'll ever be."
"Well, put out the sign. Everybody's welcome."
Opius took flight.
The Library was open. |
